Cbot Going Official
When I launched this blog last December it was always meant as a place for my banter regarding politics, things which made me laugh, movies, sci fi, tech, and pretty much all things which struck my fancy. It was a place where I could throw up my word vomit and, if anyone was interested, they could follow it and comment.
Since it's launch 4 months ago I've always treated Not The Droids as a place which I could post on as I saw fit. Daily, weekly, monthly....didn't really matter, and with the help of Facebook I could keep everyone informed as to when a new post went up. What I thought was mindless drivel (and it likely is) gained me some compliments from several people on occasion telling me that the blog was entertaining and to keep it up. SO, I've decided to take the blog one step further and launch an official site.
This past weekend I purchased server space and a domain and, as of today, have begun creating graphics for what will eventually be this blogs replacement. My intentions with the new site is to take it a bit more seriously, advertise it, gain more followers, and create new and interesting features without sacrificing the tone in which I was able to hone (HA! Rhymed) over these past couple months.
I am holding out revealing the official domain until I launch but I assure you that it is neither Cbot.com nor is it Not-The-Droids-You-Are-Looking-For.com. Believe it or not, they were both taken. But as soon as I get the site going I'll let you all know.
I would also like to use the site eventually as a hub for some of my friends who I have seen post blogs of their own to have a .com in which they can piggy back off of. So if you are one of those guys, expect to hear from me one day.
So for those of you who have followed my blog these past months and to those individuals who went the extra mile to tell me how much they enjoyed it, I can't thank you enough. You have given me the confidence to poison the rest of the internet with my banter.

No iPhone 5 at WWDC 2011? SAY WHAAAT?!?
It was just announced today that Apple would be holding their annual summer event on June 6th at the World Wide Developers Conference. Now, this isn't really news. This happens every year. What is news is what we might not see at WWDC 2011.
When promoting their events, Apple always likes to add hints and clues on their event invitations of what is to come next. Well this year, as you can tell from above, Apple is showing off their millions of apps and are also talking about giving a preview of what is yet to come with their iOS and Mac OS X software. The difference between this year and last year and really every WWDC Apple press event since 2008 is that Apple is not teasing the release of yet another iPhone.
Since the beginning of the year techies and fanboys alike have scoured the interwebs hunting down any rumor or picture which could give them some idea of what the iPhone 5 will look like and how it will operate. Aluminum back plate to replace the glass? More gesture controls? The removal of the home button? All information is just an appetizer of the meal that is WWDC, but it seems the fanboys will have to wait a tad longer for their main course.
Every year Apple typically holds 3 main events: The January event which is quickly becoming the iPad event. WWDC in the summer which use to be known for the iPhone. And, ofcoarse, the big iPod unveils in the fall right before Christmas. But now with the iPhone 5 not having a place at WWDC, it seems the iWorld is in disarray.
Does this mean no iPhone 5 this year? Not likely. Since 2007 there has been some type of iPhone upgrade so for 2011 not to have one, especially in the midst the Steve Jobs health and rumor that Johnathan Ives could be leaving the company, it's very unlikely that Apple would risk shaking the faith of their investors and base by not upgrading their top selling device. What is more likely is that the fall iPod event will now become a fall iPhone/iPod event.
It just makes sense. The iPod recently has began to take a back seat to the iPhone and last years iPod Music Event was very lack luster for many. So what I am predicting for the New Apple Order is that January will be the iPad/Hardware event, WWDC will be the software event, and the Fall will bring us the iPhone/iPod event. So what is likely to happen at WWDC 2011 is the unveil of iOS 5 which will be the official OS of the iPhone 5 set to be launched right before the holidays.
